Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much are dues?

A. Dues for 2012 for Percussion, Brass & Color Guard members is $500 plus a $50 DCA Championships fee. Dues for Honor Guard members are $150. We will offer a discount of $50 off of your dues if the balance is paid in full by March 1, 2012 (Brass, Percussion & Color Guard only). Dues cover food, transportation, equipment and uniform for the season.


Q. What other fees will be involved?

A. There will be a $25 registration fee for all returning members and $50 registration fee for all new members. Members will also be required to purchase a paid of black Dinkles marching shoes if they do not already own a pair. Members we be able to purchase these through the drum corps.


Q. What's the age limit to be a member?

A. We're an all-age corps that will be competing in DCA, so we allow members from 14 years of age and up. There is NO age limit like in DCI.


Q. How often will there be rehearsals?

A. Thunder will hold weekend rehearsals (Saturday & Sunday) about once a month in the winter and spring. Once May rolls around, we will be going to 2 weekends per month.


Q. Will Thunder be providing housing at camps?

A. Yes, Thunder will always provide housing on Saturday nights of rehearsal camps.


Q. Does Thunder tour the entire summer like a DCI corps?

A. No, we will only be touring a few select weekends over the summer then end the summer at DCA Finals week in Annapolis, MD on Labor Day weekend.


Q. How will members get to and from shows?

A. Thunder will travel to and from shows on charter buses provided by Magical Charters.


Q. Does Thunder offer assistance in getting to and from rehearsal camps?

A. Yes, we offer a bus service from Cape Coral, FL which makes a stop in Bradenton on the way up. The bus costs $10 per person for the weekend. We also have members and staff from all over the staff that can assist with carpooling.


Q. Is attendance mandatory at rehearsal camps?

A. Yes, attendance is mandatory. If you have prior engagements or an emergency then we can accept your absense.
